  Operating Principle

Data is transmitted from the field units (transmitters) to the PC using a unique radio and data transfer technology that provides high performance, reliability and simplicity.

  • Soil moisture sensors are measured every 15 minutes and transmitted to the base station every 30 minutes.
  • Weather station sensors are measured every 5 minutes and transmitted every 15 minutes.
  • Water meter readings are sent at the beginning and end of irrigation and every 10 minutes during irrigation.

Transmitter
A simple maintenance-free radio transmitter with an internal battery that is designed to last at least 6 years. The transmitter is capable of receiving data from designated sensors and transmitting it to the receiver located within a range of up to 3 km (2 miles). The antenna can be installed up to 6 meters (20 feet) away from the transmitter using an extension cable.

Gro-Pointtm
Volumetric soil moisture sensor based on TDT (Time Domain Transmissometry) provides fast and accurate response to changes in soil moisture. The Gro-Pointtm measures a large soil volume (5cm radius [2 inches] from the sensor elements) and is suitable for all soil types. Durable and reliable, the sensor requires no maintenance and is designed to remain in the soil permanently or for an entire season.
Gro-Pointtm is available in three models:
GP-MS – most soils
GP-SS – sandy soils
GP-Hs – clay soils/ saline soils

Tensiometer Measurements
A special transducer allows accurate and reliable measurements of most traditional tensiometers. IrriWiseTM lets you shift from labor-intensive manual readings to continuous-measurement. The system also provides a clear indication when a tensiometer has stopped working.

Weather Station
A fully modular weather station supports the following sensors: temperature, humidity, solar radiation, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, leaf wetness and soil temperature. The IrriWiseTM weather Station is self-contained and will operate for one year on 6 AA batteries.

Cross-referencing of weather station parameters and soil moisture readings provide a better understanding of plant behavior and can significantly improve the ability to plan a well-based irrigation strategy.

Water Meter
Actual reading of water meter installed on a specific lateral or section, providing accurate runtime, volume and flow rate of irrigation events, which can be presented graphically or in a detailed report. This data is critical for cross-referencing between irrigation events and soil moisture reading.

Receiver
The radio receiver is responsible for data reception from the various transmitters and for transferring it via RS232 to the Pc.

Radio Repeater
A radio repeater is used whenever it is necessary to extend transmission distances or deal with problematic terrains. The range of the repeater is up to 10 km (7 miles). The repeater can be supplied with power either by a 110-240VAC source or by a battery and solar panel.

IrriWise™ Graphic Software
The IrriWiseTM graphic soft ware is designed to assist the grower with data-analysis and provide a tool for better management. The software contains a complete database, enabling cross-referencing of data from various sensors. The software provides trend analysis, disease prediction modules, degree-days, min/max/average, heat units, Eto and more.

IrriDial™ Software
A software program that enables remote data download from various IrriWiseTM software for easy presentation and analysis.

Radio Manager Software
Radio and network management software, developed especially to enable easy transmitter and sensor definitions, provides continuous indications of data reception and radio performance. The software also enables authorized remote users to download data using IrriDailTM software.
