  Test Case

1. The field is irrigated by sub-surface laterals: Uniram 17 2.3/0.6, one lateral per each row of trees.
2. The field is irrigated in two shifts.
3. 5.5 hours are required to irrigate the olives or the equivalent of 3mm of rain per day.
4. Pump demands: Q= 20 m^3/h P= 42m.
5. Pressure demands:
a. Irrigation: 20m (after filter).
b. Flushing: 27m (after filter).
6. 1" anti-vacuum valves are installed on the high points of sub main pipes.
7. 3/4" anti-vacuum valves are installed on the high points of collector pipes.

8. Flushing procedure:
a) One block only is irrigated while flushing is carried out.
b) One valve only is opened each time for flushing.
c) Pressure level is raised for flushing up to 27m.
9. Water source and operative reservoir:
When the water source discharge is less than the discharge of the field (13.8 m^3/h in this case) and more than 50%, construction of an operative reservoir is essential to collect the daily amount of water required for the field.
For a 3-day cycle x 2 shifts, and for 7 m^3/h discharge of the water source, the capacity of the reservoir has to be 300 m^3.
