Why
Drip Irrigation?
Traditional viticulture practices in Europe have excluded
vineyard irrigation. However, in today's challenging and dynamic
climatic and economic environment, irrigation is more and
more accepted as an essential tool to ensure consistent yield
quality.
Traditional
irrigation methods cannot efficiently manage scarce and valuable
water resources, or consistently deliver the quality yields
required to ensure excellent vintages year after year.
In
both flood/furrow and overhead sprinkler irrigation, up to
50% of water applied is wasted through evaporation and runoff.
Further, the uncontrolled nature of these irrigation methods
allows no control over vegetation, and no control over other
quality parameters, such as bunch size and berry size, or
over maturity parameters, like sugar, phenolics, and aromatic
component levels.

In
order to maintain the delicate control necessary over plant
water intake required for consistent yield quality, a more
advanced vineyard irrigation regime is needed.

In
Australia, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, and California's
Napa Valley, Netafim's UniWine, RAM
and PJC drip solutions
are helping vintners produce consistently excellent
yields. Netafim solutions are also helping vineyard
cultivation in Spain, Italy and Austria.
Specially
adapted to the sensitive tradition of vineyard cultivation,
Netafim's advanced drip irrigation products deliver:
|
|
 |
|
|
| |
|
|
| |
- Precise
growth control:
Netafim drip solutions are ideal for accurate semi-stressed
growing, helping precisely implement RDI (restricted Deficit
Irrigation) strategy.
- Uniform
distribution: with Netafim drip, each vine gets exactly
the same amount of water, regardless of field location,
topography, slope, or soil.
- Water
conservation: Netafim drip irrigation solutions use
significantly less water around 1-2mm per week. Also,
by delivering water directly to vine roots, Netafim drip
lowers evaporation water loss by up to 50%.
